Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB): The Closest Option
VRB sits on the west side of the city, close to downtown, the Miracle Mile area and the 17th Street bridge to the beach. It is small, parking is close, and the walk from your car to the gate is short. For a lot of people, that alone is worth it.
For years Breeze Airways was the only airline here. That changed in late 2025 and early 2026:
- JetBlue started daily nonstops to New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS) on December 11, 2025.
- American Airlines started daily, year-round nonstops to Charlotte (CLT) on February 12, 2026. Charlotte is a major hub, so you can connect almost anywhere.
- Breeze Airways uses Vero Beach as an operating base and flies mostly to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

When It Makes Sense to Drive a Little Farther

Melbourne Orlando International (MLB)
- North on I-95 or US-1, about 35 miles.
- Delta flies to Atlanta, American flies to Charlotte.
- Smaller terminal, simple parking.
- Good backup when VRB does not fly where you need to go.

Orlando International (MCO)
- About 100 miles, mostly I-95 and SR 528.
- The biggest choice of nonstops and international flights.
- Plan extra time for traffic, parking and security.
- Brightline trains run from MCO to West Palm Beach and Miami. There is no Treasure Coast stop yet.

Palm Beach International (PBI)
- About 75 miles south on I-95.
- A mid-size airport with plenty of major airlines.
- A good fit if you split time between the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County.

Treasure Coast International (FPR)
- In Fort Pierce, about 25 to 30 minutes south.
- General aviation: private planes, charters and flight schools.
- St. Lucie County has been working to bring in commercial flights, but there is no scheduled airline service yet as of 2026.
A Few Local Tips
Check VRB first. If your city is on the route list, it is hard to beat a 10 minute drive home.
Compare the total trip, not just the ticket. A cheaper fare out of Orlando can cost you three hours of driving and a parking bill.
Season matters. Winter brings more flights to VRB and MLB, and some routes go away in summer.
If you live in Sebastian, Melbourne may be about as close as VRB. If you live in south Vero or Fort Pierce, VRB and PBI both stay in play.
